Question: What does an 8 week ultrasound tell you?

The babys eye structures are complete, he has tiny earlobes, and his wrist, elbow, and knee joints are visible. All in all your baby finally looks like what he is—a miniature human being. In medical terms he has graduated from an embryo to a fetus, and soon he will begin to stir.

What does an 8 week scan show?

At 8 weeks we would expect to see a tiny baby (approximately 15 millimetres), and we would expect to see a visible heartbeat. At this point babys arms are starting to get longer and will currently be longer than babys legs as the upper part of the body grows quicker.
