Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) Fifth Edition (5e) Race - Dwarf - Bold and hardy, dwarves are known as skilled warriors, miners, and workers of stone and metal. Racial Traits +2 Constitution, Darkvision, Dwarven Resilience, Dwarven Combat Training, Stonecunning “Yer late, elf!” came the rough edge of a familiar voice. Bruenor Battlehammer walked up the back of his dead foe, disregarding the fact that the heavy monster lay on top of his elven friend. In spite of the added discomfort, the dwarf’s long, pointed, often-broken nose and gray-streaked though still-fiery red beard came as a welcome sight to Drizzt. “Knew I’d find ye in trouble if I came out an’ looked for ye!” — R. A. Salvatore, The Crystal Shard.

Gnomes = okay this idea has never been done before, and it will be revolutionizing!......If it doesn't explode. IDK why it will explode since there is no gunpowder or magic involved, but I will find a way! • 3 aylar önce Just finished playing Grimbeard the Mountain Dwarf. Very challenging roleplay, not made any easier by the fact that the party contained a frivolous, impulsive and meta-gaming elf.
Finally forced to walk away when the elf decided it would be great idea for the party to become judicial champions for a notorious pirate and murder innocent gladiators they had never met on his say-so.
Deciding his immortal soul, his seat in the halls of his ancestors and the honour of his clan were more important than keeping the elf happy he refused to take part and walked away to get on with more important matters. • 3 aylar önce As to mountain dwarves being not great; I just created a wild magic sorcerer mountain dwarf who fights on the front line with green flame blade, booming blade and shadow blade.
Both the strength and the medium amour are helping a lot. I have played her for one session and someone I play with is already worried that she is OP. • 3 aylar önce Well. I want to make an Anti-Social Lawful-Evil Barbarian Dwarf now who is meant to make positive relations but half-arses his job cause he'd rather Forge stuff than help the bloodly human plebs that are going to grow old, fuck and then learn nothing from their ancestors mistakes and then their children are going to need help again.
• 3 aylar önce I made a hill dwarf paladin named Ignatius for when I played in a mines of Phendelver campaign. He was a very optimistic character that always had a problem with decision making. For our final fight against Neznar he attempted to sacrifice himself to save the world from a magic nuke and miraculously survived in saving the world.
Flash forward to when I’m running Rise of Tiamat with those same friends and all of them have characters tied to a character from the other game. When they walk to the Hall of the Lords of Waterdeep they are greated by an old senile Dwarf that looks to have once been a great warrior destroyed by age and is still the optimist, but now a tragic figure.
In the Last season when the Great battle commenced and the players rushed to stop the summoning of Tiamat, there was the team from the first game standing old, but heroic as the elf and Human that gained immortality look like they have everything under control, the Dwarf is last seen fighting a Red Dragon, alone.
When the players found his shovel that he used as his weapon, they broke down in tears as we mourned the death of Ignatius. • 3 aylar önce I'm really enjoying the Duergar I'm playing, Gilthur Grudgeglyph. He's always at least a little angry, he suspects the worst outcome of most endeavors, loves to say "Ah told ye so", and has a tendency to shove people into one of his many empty sacks. Generally without their permission. Are you valuable to our quests? "Get in tha sack!" Are you about to get us into trouble?
"Get in tha sack!" Do we need to sneak two people in somewhere? "Nope, nope, no fussin'. Yer gettin' in the tha sack!" He also likes throwing his familiar into the unknown and is very unhappy with the fact that this cat isn't as ferocious as a mountain lion. But he keeps conjuring a cat because he earned his start as a ratcatcher and cats were helpful. • 3 aylar önce Yeah, and no agliculture would mean every stop in delivery would result in many starving dwarves. Also. Eventually they would be so addicted to their food sellers they would become their servants.
You know. maybe they do find some food under mountain, like meat ore. Or maybe they grow mushrooms? • 3 aylar önce "Whatever wealth they can't find in their mountains, they gain through trade. They dislike boats, so enterprising humans and halflings frequently handle trade and dwarven goods along water routes." Hah, I remember it addressing food, but I guess 'good's count.
I guess Davvy's version can be how dwarves handled things before they had other races to trade with. (Davvy should have listed his sources instead of saying 'it's only my opinion') •

“If you are going through hell, keep going.” ― Winston Churchill “Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald Descended from the union of humans and dwarves, the Half-Dwarf has the stature, agility, and mental flexibility of their Human parents; coupled with the physical resilience and the endurance of their Dwarven parents- a rare combination of qualities that make them more than a simple blend of two races.
Though they come from the union of Humans and Dwarves, this is actually a rare union, due to many Human cultures believing in having "Pure Blood" to survive in life. The Half-Dwarves also have another problem, besides the majority of Half-Dwarves living entire lives without meeting another Half-Dwarf; the Half-Dwarves are infertile, not able to reproduce like other Half-Races, due to a common genetic problem.
Resembling powerfully built Humans, they are slightly shorter than the average man. Females, while not as heavily muscled, are tall, strong, and athletic. Half-Dwarves have no collective racial identity, like Half-Elves, usually adopting the dress and style of their homes.
However, they are fond of tattoos, and favor simple geometric patterns rather than depictions of creatures or objects. Half-Dwarves have a lifespan similar to their Human parents, though they usually live around 230 years. However, Half-Dwarves can move at this speed even when wearing medium or heavy armor or when carrying a medium or heavy load (unlike other creatures, whose speed is reduced in such situations).
• Darkvision: Half-Dwarves can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and dwarves can function just fine with no light at all. • +2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison. • +2 racial bonus on saving throws against spells and spell-like effects.
• Half-Dwarves gain the Endurance feat as a bonus feat at 1st level. • Dwarven Blood: Half-Dwarves are considered to be both Humans and Dwarves, for the purposes of effects and prerequisites. • Starting Languages: Common and Dwarven; Bonus Languages: Any (except for any secret languages, such as Druidic).
• Favored Class: Any. When determining whether a multiclass Half-Dwarf takes an experience point penalty, her highest-level class does not count. Ability Score Increase. This has been yet another race created because of boredom. Last edited by Ralcos; 2014-10-19 at 09:40 PM. Works for me. To better facilitate adding half-dwarves to an existing fantasy world, you might want to say something like half-dwarf births are extremely rare -- that while humans and dwarves can have children, it just doesn't happen very often.
Also it might be useful to state half-dwarves are infertile and can't have any children of their own. It would help to explain how there could be half-dwarves and yet, no one's ever heard of them or thought they could even exist. Also - making half-dwarf characters infertile makes for an interesting and different plot point, you could wrap a quest around finding a magical or divine means of countering that infertility if a character really wanted to have kids.

Just a thought. Good work.Interesting idea for lore, and it makes sense. *thinks* UPDATED: Lore specifies that Half-Dwarves are infertile. Last edited by Ralcos; 2014-10-19 at 12:37 PM. Seem prety co- wait a second...
HALF DWARVES WITH HAIR, THEY MUST BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha no but seriusly they seem pretty well built. Only problem is that in one section you say 130 plus 1d% and in another you say 300 is there maximum age.
So yeah 70 year diffrence, Its not a big problem but if that isnt intentional I thought I should point it out. Seem prety co- wait a second... HALF DWARVES WITH HAIR, THEY MUST BURN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha no but seriusly they seem pretty well built.

Corrected the written lore.
